MalaMala Game Reserve is situated in the eastern part of South Africa in the province of Mpumalanga (forming part of our Sabi Sand Lodges portfolio). It shares a common border of 19km / 12 miles with the Kruger National Park and is part of a conservation gene pool that covers 5.5 million acres of land in the heart of the South African Lowveld. Only guests accommodated at one of the MalaMala camps may traverse this immense tract of privately owned game land. Photographic safaris are conducted in open 4-wheel drive vehicles which allows for total freedom of movement and the ability to leave the road and track down Africa's Big Five - Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo. After dark, spotlight safaris provide the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt and walking safaris with an armed ranger can be arranged on request. There are currently four lodges within the MalaMala Game Reserve;

The colonial atmosphere of gracious style and luxury has been retained, and guests step back in time upon entering the original homestead, which now houses the Lodge’s sitting, bar and dining areas. Each of the 18 guest cottages has a private veranda and is furnished in the same charming style.
The large sitting room, with a 1920’s ambience, leads through double French doors onto rolling lawns that provide a velvety contrast to the wild and tumbling bush surrounding the Lodge. Breakfast and lunch are served on shady verandas, and dinners are shared in the dramatic boma or in romantic lanternlit bush settings.
Kirkman's Kamp’s exciting safari activities: Renowned for its exceptional African wildlife and leopard sightings, Kirkmans Kamp offers exhilarating twice-daily game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles and guided bush walks in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
