Renowned as the most luxurious tented camp in South Africa, Tanda Tula is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve (forming part of our Timbavati Lodges portfolio), adjacent to the Kruger National Park. With a handful of visitors and a limited number of game-viewing vehicles traversing on thousands of hectares of pristine African wilderness, the words 'private', ‘secluded' and 'tranquil' best describe the Tanda Tula experience.

Tanda Tula’s magnificent thatched East Africa style tents, with sumptuous Victorian style baths and outdoor showers and spacious wooden decks overlooking the dry river bed, are the epitome of luxury and seclusion.

  • Situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park
  • Nominated the most luxurious tented camp in South Africa
  • 12 Luxurious Thatched East African style tents with private timber decks, Victorian baths and outside showers
  • Guest areas include a thatched lounge, open-air dining areas, curio shop and swimming pool
  • Daily activities include 2 game drives and bush walks
  • Daily flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Hoedspruit
  • Private 1000m tarred airstrip, capable of accommodating most twin aircraft and small executive jets
  • Coordinates of the airfield are as follows: 24 degrees, 17 min South: 31 degrees, 18 min East

The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park - a vast wilderness of more than ten million acres – allowing animals free range and ensuring guests the greatest diversity of game that Africa has to offer.

Treading lightly, encounters are guided from years of experience; on the very same narrow paths trodden by cloven hoofs and padded paws, or with the wind whispering softly through your hair as you drive ever so slowly by.

A team of expert Rangers and Trackers lead morning and evening game drives on open-sided vehicles. Guests can enjoy the solitude and feel the true expanse of wilderness, as vehicles are limited to one per square kilometer.

For those who prefer a more active approach, rangers and trackers will lead walking safaris. These are popular with bird lovers who can delight in spotting many of the 360 species that make this area their home.
